Most Memorable Tip (monetary, gift or advice):  My most memorable tip came from a regular client of mine, mocha. She found this "strong woman "card and wrote a beautiful note to me. Yes, there was $70 in there as well, but it was just so nice to be appreciated.  Also, it was such a clever perfect card. She went out of her way, obviously, taking the time, which made it mean so much more to me.

How did you choose a career in the Wellness industry?

I chose the wellness and beauty industry for variety of reasons. It was actually a 360° experience. I tried several different things. I was first at college and that wasn't working so I went to cosmetology school And that didn't feel right and then I went to massage school twice and then to beauty school and make up artistry and everything to sort of led to the next thing and then to one another.  It was what I was meant to do and it all just felt right when it finally came together.  It's all about making people feel better.  You can tell you’re appreciated.  It's tangible.

Greatest reward of doing the work?  The greatest reward is that you are making people feel great. A new person every hour on the hour of every day has a challenge with either their body or skin.  I am able to help them feel better.

Things you wish or would like to change in the industry? The thing I would change about this industry is the absence of benefits in a compensation package like vacation time and great health insurance coverage.

Who is your Mentor and why?  My mentor is Ken B. He was a massage instructor in San Francisco at the Trinity school of massage. He made me enjoy the learning process.  He saw that I wanted to learn and took me under his wing. I remember one day during a hands-on a massage class our classmates had to critique our work.  It was a very vulnerable experience and he handled it so well.  He made me feel like he had my back and wanted the best for me. Through that experience, I was able to grow and learn in a safe environment.

What is your best tip for client retention, retailing, or upselling?

My goal is for my clients to leave feeling like they have had the best facial they have ever had and feel that i have given them knowledge to continue their experience at home.
