Plus, you will learn how to master the steps needed to increase the odds that you will get the raise you want and deserve.

NOTE: Each lesson includes a homework assignment in the lesson description to be completed before moving to the next lesson.
HOMEWORK: Make the case as to why you would give yourself a raise.
Lesson 1: Timing
1. Make the case that now is the best time to ask for a raise.
2. Are your company's profits up?
3. Revenues up?
4. Stock price up?
5. Have there been any layoffs lately?
Lesson 2: Ask for an Appointment
Ask your boss for an appointment to discuss your future in the organization.
Lesson 3: Be Positive
List the following:
1. What do you like about your organization?
2. What is your proudest accomplishment at the organization?
3. What do you like about the people in your industry?
Lesson 4: The Future
Create a one-page memo listing 10 very speciific things you want to do in the next year in your job to increase efficiency and productivity.
Lesson 5: What NOT to Do
Remind yourself of the following:
1. Don't whine
2. Don't talk about your needs
3. Don't complain
4. Don't show doubt
5. Don't waver
Lesson 6: The Ask
Determine how much more money you are going to ask for. Be specific, in terms of percentages and yearly amount.
Lesson 7: Competing Job Offers
1. Do you have any competing job offers?
2. If not, why not?
3. Are you networking with industry players and executive recruiters in your industry?
Lesson 8: Video Rehearsal and Conclusion
This is the most important part of the course. Use a video camera on your cell phone, tablet or computer and practice a mock meeting with your boss. Ask your substitute boss (use a friend, colleague or family member stand-in) for a raise using all of the above steps. Review the video. Repeat the process until you are happy with how you look and sound on video when asking for a raise.
